Supporting Gilwell Park Activity Centre
The Service Team supports the Gilwell Park Activity Centre, both at special events such as Cub and Beaver Fundays, Gilwell 24 and Winter Camp, and also on other weekends of the year. It gets involved in everything from toilets to training through to activities and administration. The Service Team became the 2nd Gilwell Park Fellowship in January 2000 as the body of support to the Campsite. We were required to form a Fellowship under new Scout Association rules designed to formalise such support teams, and ensure that everyone was covered by the Scout Association insurance policy. In late 2010, again following Scout Association policy, the Fellowship became a Scout Active Support Unit.
This Unit forms (in conjuction with the JST, see below) the 2nd Gilwell Park Scout Group, and is managed by the Activity Centre with the support of the Membership Administrative Team. It welcomes members from both the Scout and Guide Associations as well as those that have previously not been involved Scouting.
In addition to the adult support team, the 2nd Gilwell Park also has a section for younger people - the JST. This has members aged between 14 and 18. All members of the JST must be members of other Scout or Guide Units.
